actually it's not even close to gm's system which either uses a magnet in the
key cylinder or a resistor in the key it does trans might a frq. that must
matcch a recorded one in the skim or skreem then it sends it over the bus and
compoares vins between them all

What I did was to dealer add Electronic Vehicle Security (EVS) to the car
after
I purchased it. This has the engine immobilizer as well as the balance of
the
alarm systems (doors, impact, et al). Total cost about $300. Look into it at
your DC dealer, its tailored for the Jeep, Wrangler included.
