Re: AMC20 1 Peice Axle install
I'd like to replace the wheel bearings and seals for my one-piece axles
(pretty sure they're mosers with M+M symbol stamped on them) since we're
talking about it. Does anybody have a source for the no-kiddin' bearings
and seals made for these axles? I'd just like some peace of mind so I stop
limping from spinning them.

If these are the semi floaters, learn to pack them with grease. A
Timken bearing, is a Timken bearing, what's wrong with your local parts
store.

Re: AMC20 1 Peice Axle install
Hi Bill,
The axle came with a sealed, ball bearing. I think it was made by Green.
Since it was sealed, you don't pack it. It might've lost its lube but the
ball bearings bound on each other and, "blam", I had to change it. I tried
to get the Timken bearing but all I could find in Puerto Rico was crappy
"Chicago Rawhide" and a myriad of others that were wrong or couldn't fit the
inner seals. Even back here in the Florida panhandle, I could only find one
that looked like a correct, quality part. What can I say. It should be
easier.
I'd order from the internet but, until I'm positive it's the correct
bearing and seals, I have to see them first.

Re: AMC20 1 Peice Axle install
I went throuigh this with my moser 1 piece axles. They originally came with
sealed "green" ball bearings and after much headache trying to remove the
axles who's bearings had seized into the axle housing I called moser and
they had an upgrade for this axle. The new tapered roller bearings were free
but I had to send them the axles for machining. They had to turn a bit off
of them for the new races to fit. They also told me to tap the axle housing
for grease nipples. Now I can grease my axle bearings and 10 years later
they are still perfect.
