Many times the engine ground strap is the culprit, and Mike's the

Thanks for the reply, but wouldn't there be more issues with a defective
engine ground strap then just the gauges not working? Everything else on
the Jeep worked just fine. I don't know. I am new to this Jeep stuff.

Older Jeeps have a tendency to develop punky grounds, especially up here
in the rust belt so I am usually one of the first to suggest checking
out the grounds.
Now the new TJ's come with already bad dash grounds from the factory, so
I get to tell even 'more' people to check the grounds! LOL!
