Well, now that we know the actual tranny I dropped back and called 2 people
for their knowledge and information.
The parts department at the local Jeep dealership and a local tranny shop
(in which I have confidence) both said "Dextron III" for your AW4

I know you've written that's full, but what describe is very normal
for being one pint down and cold when the oil doesn't run as fast
returning to the sump.

If you would have read ALL the information at the link provided you would
have known that a I6 XJ uses the AW-4 tranny and it needs DEXRON.
