90 XJ electrical wiring problem
Hey this is Troy from my brother's account...
Ok the XJ I bought, was told that the brake lights dont work. (Thankfully
not by a cop :) )
The interior dash lights are out also. I remember someone telling me the
dash lights go out to let you know the brake lights are out, weird if true.
I can't find the brakelight fuse. Looked at the panel under the driver's
side dash and couldn't see anything relating to the brakelights or dash.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm putting off buying a manual
for it until I know it's a keeper.

Re: 90 XJ electrical wiring problem
You would be looking for fuse #6 or the first to the right of center at
the top of the panel. It also is the 4th fuse over from the right
side. It is a 15 amp.

Re: 90 XJ electrical wiring problem
Hi Troy,
Dash and tail lights are on the same fuse. Turn you headlight
switch **** to see if they've been turned out towards the interior dome
light.
Brake lights go though your turn signals, do they work? If so, look
first the the brake light switch attached to your brake pedal push rod.
Many times the guy vacuuming catches the hose under the pedal and pulls
the switch out of adjustment.

Re: 90 XJ electrical wiring problem
I liked the old switches, with the one-eighth inch pipe thread, that fit in
the hydraulic line. Every ten years or so, they would start to leak and
make the wires turn green, but what the heck. You only needed one
replacement part, to fit all vehicles.
