Re: 87 Wrangler Questions
Okay more details following a phone call to the seller who is the 2nd
owner since '88.
Good news:
new clutch and pressure plate
5000 miles on Goodyear Wrangler 235 R15 tires
Other news: Took notes while talking not sure what all this means except
that the garage where it's being inspected will fix it all for $900.
steering column shaft "U" joint loose, may need a steering box
needs drag links? tie rod ends
needs exhaust hanger
bumper stops need to be welded back on?
brake hose and lines need to be replaced
back up light needs to be replaced?
windshield frame is rusted
exhaust leak at manifold
Still sound like a steal?

Start it up and check for any blue smoke out the tail pipe.
Also check to see if the engine ever overheated. Those iron horses would often
have a shortened life due to overheating.
Check for anti-freeze in the oil, and check to see if the oil smells burnt.

Ouch! Does PA still have those inspection laws that make you fix
ALL of that stuff before you can get it licensed???
