On my 01 TJ, I installed the tow bar and harness myself.
It was as easy as you predicted.
Simply raise the shield to get at the rear of the tailight
unplug the Jeep harness from the tailight, plug trailer harness
into the jeep harness. Plug trailer harness into tailight.
Drill small hole to put self taping screw for ground connection
from the trailer harness. Route trailer harness to back.
The mopar towbar and trailer harness came with easy to read instructions.
Have fun and save yourself 120 bucks
