Re: 2003 Jeep TJ Speedo Cluster Compatibility
Jeeps are known for ground and main bus plug issues over the later
years. I think I would open it up and check. There are two grounds on
the dashes, apparently the left one deals with the gauges.
I think I would disconnect the battery for a few minutes to reset the
computers and thump on the dash itself to see if either changed anything
before opening it though.
I think I would also be checking the sender down at the t-case also.
Maybe the cable got snagged or crushed or melted and is sending garbage
up the line?

Re: 2003 Jeep TJ Speedo Cluster Compatibility
Yeah, I have thwacked the dash many a time and it may have been caused
by a very rough ride. I called Chrysler and they gave me the $500
price and told me that the 2004 cluster should work, but I was told by
someone else that the only cluster that will fit a 2003 is a 2003
cluster. GGGRRRR! Thanks for the info, it is greatly appreciated.

Re: 2003 Jeep TJ Speedo Cluster Compatibility
I actually have contacted the salvage yards but only to see if they had
something that fit. I will call again to check with the whole
compatibility thing, good call. I am going to go out right now as well
to disconnect the battery to try that out as well as the ground thing.
Would I have problems with the odometer and not the trip odometer if
the sender was bad. I havn't really looked at all of the workings of
the system and prolly wouldn't understand it too well because it is all
electronic. Where abouts would I find these grounds to check?
I am located in Midcoast Maine. Whats the name of the outfit in
Houston? I think that I may have sent the cluster from my old 80 BMW
to Texas to have it repaired and can't seem to remember the name of the
place. That would be great if they do work mailorder.
I appreciate all of the help guys and if there is any more info that
you can share it would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!!!
