Have you checked the BIOS? I have had power surges lately that scrambled the BIOS settings so my computer got a conflict as soon as I fired up the scanner. Your trouble happened when you unplugged your computer. If the battery on the PC is old and low, the BIOS could have lost it's settings or jumped random. Just a thought....
