If it's a known issue why did you not answer the op's question when he posted it instead of getting on here after the fact and shooting your mouth off after he spent a week or more finding it himself outside in the freezing cold. The dealers suck.

" That rear harness was exaclty it. Several wires were corroded green. I am off to the wreckers to try and find another one now. Its a 25 wires harness that I think is still used between 2002 to 2007. Hopefully I'll be able to find one that is still good. Thanks for all the tips guys. I almost took it to the dealer which I know would have cost me a ton."

I can relate to how you feel about Dealers, I know I can never change peoples views about them with 1 post. I just want people of the JeepsCanada community to see that there are some dealer tech's out there that are proud of there work and want to give the best service they can, I know this is not true for all dealer tech's. But if you do go to the dealer a simple way to find a good tech to to ask the advisor " what tech would you get to work on Jeep if you had one" FYI you are allowed to have a tech of your choice work on your Jeep, it doesn't have to random.

Hey guys, after completely removing the harness I found that the entire inside where it connects is totaly fried, all the connectors are melted together. I will post if I can some pics. I am actually suprised that no fuses blew or that my jeep did not catch fire. Is this a common issue with these jeeps?

And on a side note, I usually take my vehicle to the dealer if its something I cannot fix on my own. I know they are more expensive, but I have found the work to be 100x's better than a garage that just guesses cause their cousins best friends third husband had somthing like this happen to their jeep. And the warranty is better too.

You should come work for us! Most tech don't like to do electric because looking for that broken/shorted/open wire requires removing seats/carpets etc. looks like you have a knack for it. Great job.
If this were my Jeep I would try to just get the connector, on Monday I will see if I can get it for you or at least get you the part#.

I actually just got the new harness this morning. I went to a local wrecker and somebody had the misfortune of writing their KJ off. I am pretty much ready to reattach the harness. I am just looking for another area to run the harness to. I ended up cutting out another jeeps harness that was damaged just to get the exact wires to an extension. There seems to be enough room behind the mouldings just behind the rear seats on the drivers side. Now that everything is out of my jeep its giving me an oppertunity to install my stereo as well. Run all the wiring correctly. Cars are my passion, always have been. This is my first Jeep and I'm amazed at how easy things are to fix. The entire inside is simple to take apart and put together. I've already swapped universals, rear wheel bearings, seals and rebuilt the rear end with a complete front to back braking system replacement. After I put her all back together its clutch replacement time. It rattles now but is still strong.
