"CD Eject sound" coming from radio when radio and Jeep is OFF!!??
Hi,
I currently own a Jeep LIberty 2008 North Edition and since I got it, my radio seems to have a mind of its own. Whenever my Jeep or radio is off, the radio makes the "eject" sound every 45 seconds!!... which Ive timed of course. The sound is the "ejecting" sound, although if I insert a CD in the radio and I turn everything off, you hear the sound much lower and muffled and the CD doesnt eject. Brought it back to the dealer... they changed the radio and told me the radio was faulty.... but it still has the problem. I insisted that this is not a radio problem and rather some electrical issue which is causing this "ejecting" sound from the radio. They advised me that their techs pinpointed the radio as the culprit but they also contacted Chrysler with the issue and they were waiting for their reply whatever that means. They told me to take the Jeep meanwhile and theyd get back to me (this was Tuesday). Well, its been 3 days and no call from the dealer and over the weekend (Sunday) my Jeep wouldn't start!!... the battery was drained and I had to call CAA to get a boost. This morning I drove to the dealer bright and early and gave them a piece of my mind and advised then that that problem isnt resolved and it most likely caused my battery to drain which I want to have replaced! and not just recharged.... I also told them to keep the Jeep until they fix the electronic issue.
Its a pre-owned 2008 Jeep Liberty with 36k kms and Ive had it for just over 2 weeks. I heard that I have a 30 day satisfaction guarantee and I will probably need to persist and use it to my advantage to avoid more trivial runarounds. I also left my salesman a message with the latest issues and for him to expect to hear from me some more if nothing gets resolved.
Has anybody heard of such an issue??
Thanks!
Gio

Hello,
Not sure which model, but I believe its the basic radio with the 6 speaker package. It does not have the "U-Connect" hands-free kit or any kind of built-in screen for navigation etc.
I still don't see how they can blame the radio and the techs were so convinced telling me that was the cause after all there testing. My question is, what are the odds that both radios have the same issue and how many radios will it take until they realize the issue is coming from elsewhere.
Any ideas? ever heard of such a thing?
Thanks!

Just got a call from the parts dept. from my dealer and they informed me that a "cluster/module" was ordered and was received this afternoon for my Jeep. The lady wasnt able to give me too much info on the part so I asked for her to have one of the head technicians call me.

Looks like the part she called me for was not related to the issue.
The service dept. called me and they tried another radio and said the issue is persisting.
They need more time to inspect.

Does not sound like much fun. Did they offer you a loaner car? Post back what they find so others can see what the issue may be. Will they get you a new battery too?
They didnt offer a loaner but I will insist that they lend me one today.
Im not sure how to proceed with this situation... Ive owned this Jeep for a little over 2 weeks and put less then 600km of mileage. I heard that there is a 30-day satisfaction guarantee and Im thinking that if they cant find this issue I should perhaps let me know know about my dissatisfaction and see what they can do. I know that this will only open up a can of worms and I want to be patient for another day at the most until I lose my patience.

Problem solved!
The service dept. were successful in finding the issue.
Seems like some bad wiring hookup was causing the issue and over time eventually draining the battery.
Ill keep my eye on it, but so far so good.

That is very good news. I hope that ends your battery drain nightmare. I have been though similar on my 04kj as "known issue" Ghost lights, where interior lights come on and stay on by themselves, even though multi function switch is off for the lights.
If mine continues to be erratic, I will have to replace the multi switch.
My Latest mod for my 04 KJ today, replace stock fog bulbs that are weak and yellowish with Sylvania 9005ST Silverstars... (high beams from F-150) mod the tabs, now have 65watts instead of 42watts. They seem to match my Piaa headlight bulbs well. Now have real lights.
