You might also look into the RACOR HD hoist and it's sold by COSTCO,AMAZON, Ebay, for anywhere from $100 bucke to $140
Yea, if you have a garage and it's a one man 5 minute job (after unbolting top), it'll support 250 lbs and these tops weigh from 75 to 125 lbs
It works easy for me because of my rack, but you can get rubber coated hooks to attach to the top
I've only used it once for my top and now I keep all my boat-float-fishing stuff on the hoist
Good luck

Hi Woodman, I've made my own lift a few years ago, it's had a few revisions, but I do lift it on and off myself.
The link bellow in not my lift, but it did help me with the idea of making my own. This person used unistrut, I went with 2X3's.

Pay very close attention to yout lift point, the top WILL teach you new lessons in ballence and centre of gravity.
The first lift is off the Jeep, then I have to move the top to the corner of the garage (clear the motor for the door opener) Second lift is to the ceiling, and then I secure with hold down straps secured to the joist with eye bolts, almost looks like three slings.
Another option is this cool lift bellow:

If this would work in my garage, I may go for it next season.
My home made lift provided hours of build enjoyment, and cost came in around 40 bucks.go
Good luck, and enjoy the open air driving.....Top down doors off!!!

Well, thats true, but you could taylor length, two (each side) "J" hooks in front and two-longer, "J" hooks at the rear corners
You don't want to lift the hardtop with the "T" tops installed !!

Yep, threaded rod is a wonderfull thing, just be sure to use poly tube to keep it from marking up your hard top. I used a small propane torch and vise grips to fabricate mine.
Take your time to find the 'centre' once you have that the rest is easy!
Cheers!

Using the threaded rod for hooks is a good idea and covering them is understandble, did you use 3/8 threaded rod for the hooks and they must have been quite a good size to get around that top.
You did a real good job,i don't have the garage but i have a crane outside my shop and my case is a bit different as its 2dr hard top so hooks (2)at the rear with the window open is ok and 2 at the front down low ,where the top meets the jeep will have to be the front 2(my top has no overhang)
