I am planning to do this mod as well. Here is a list I saved from another site on what material is needed.

The gutter guard at Home Depot (I believe) is silver but read somewhere that Rona has it coated in black. I have yet to buy my materials but plan to check out Rona to see if they do.

-1 in. x 1 in. Mounting Pads (100-Pack)-296167 at The Home Depot

-100 pack of 4" Black Cable Ties. $3.99. SKU # 295780

-6 in. x 36 in. Hinged Gutter Guard Unpainted-85280 at The Home Depot

As mentioned Gorilla glue seems to do the trick. For those that have used Gorilla glue, is this the fast drying 30-60 second super glue? Or ?

I did see a youtube video using this method, but given the measurments I could probably do this myself. I am not super crafty, but this looks pretty straight forward.

Same here. Home Depot gutter guard and some plastic zip ties and blocks.

can you pull it off and let us see behind the scenes? It would be good reference material for this thread.

I looked at this, are they steel or aluminium ? Wondering if it will rust.

Depending on what you get, you can get metal ones but I think generally speaking using "plastic" type material so it won't rust out.

Mine is aluminum. I dont think plastic would last long due to heat from rad.

I did exactly same ting, same material( gutter guard mesh Rona-Black) + Gorilla Glue since blocks wont hold the stress on them,. Except I gulped 2 or 3 beers while doing this :)

material used:
1. Black zip ties and bag of blocks from home depot
2. Gutter Guard from Rona-Aluminum Black
3. Gorilla Glue- Locktite type from work
4. 3 x Coors lite from LCBO

I went the gutter guard route, if a stick pokes through one you can remove it and replace that slot without having to do the entire grill.
