Realistic MPG
Hey guys....
Dont have a jeep yet. Looking into Wrangler model. 2012 and newer for the Pentastar engine. I live in Wpg and drive to work each day on the highway. My current car is brutal in snow. Ive always wanted a jeep and Wrangler seems to be the way to go.
However due to hwy travel I want something relatively equal or even better then my current Grand am GT is on the hwy.
What am I looking at for mpg city / hwy ????
Thank you.
Special thank to Mr.White for getting my acct going.

Re: Realistic MPG
A lot depends upon gearing. We just bought a 2013 JKU Sahara with 3.21s. Awesome highway fuel economy, we got 9.5L per 100 on a 500km trip. It was down as low as 9.2 for the first 200km, before getting off the highway and taking a more senic route. Thats with 3 kids, 2 adults, soft top still under the hard top, and luggage. We never got even close to that with our 2010 JKU. It really drops in the city though. We got about 13.2 during city only driving. In the latest tank since we got home, the evic shows 10.7, that's no highway, just rural roads and "edge of city" driving. Driving style also makes a big difference. I use the cruise control regularly.

Re: Realistic MPG
Did you actually check the fuel economy properly (full tank to full tank) or are you relying on the dashboard thingy (which can be painfully optomistic)? Unless Jeep has figured out some way to change the laws of physics, an aerodynamic car will always use less fuel than a truck shaped like a brick.
That being said, the first time you have to drive in some really crap weather, all thoughts of fuel consumption will disappear.

Re: Realistic MPG
We filled up before we left, travelled 514kms, and it took 66 bucks to fill back up at 1.329 per litre. I still think in terms of imperial mpg. You divide the litres into the km's, and multiply by 2.8
In this case it worked out to 29 mpg. The evic showed 9.5L per 100

Re: Realistic MPG
Just keep in mind the potential the jeep has for decent, not outstanding fuel economy. My results were on a long trip, and I don't expect to get that until the next trip we go on. Since we live in a rural area, we have a straight, 10 mile non stop run before we get to the city. That alone helps my overall average to go down. I expect I'll see 11 to 12 L/100kms on a regular basis, and in the 13's when we're in the city more. My wife, on the other hand, well lets just say I'll let her fill it when she uses it often. Lol
