Default Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac Tires

Hi all,

This is my first winter with these tires since I did lift and upgrade in April last year.

I have to say that these tires are just beauty to ride on. rain, mud , ice, snow...They perform very well and ride is so smooth and gives you total control on the road.

recent Ice storm and snow is nothing for these tires, they keep pulling and didn't had any traction control assist go off.

I really love them.

I love mine too, they perform extremely well and road noise is only slightly audible when I have the top down and doors off. Like most aggressive tires though, if find they don't like asphalt with a tiny bit of rain on.

Good to know as come Dec 2014 in Quebec the LT tire on light trucks won't be legal in the 3 months of winter (15th Dec to 15th Mar) Assuming these tires have the mountain/snow flake embedded into the side wall?

Interesting to know! I have wondered why BFG has the emblems on their LT all terrain TA's. My experience with these two (Goodyear Wrangler & BFG AT) has been spooky when on slick asphalt - water or ice. Otherwise they are a good performing tire imo. I like both tires and how they stand up and perform, but really wonder if it's wise to have the snowflake emblem on them. I still drive on them, but keep the speed down, unless the asphalt is bare and dry.

Yes, these have the mountain/snowflake rating emblem on them and they are studdable (for those provinces/states that allow). It is quite rare that I switch into 4wd in snowstorms here with these tires, they make their way through that well.

What size did you go with, width wise? Got any pics, specifically a side shot of how much they stick out past the fenders.
Thanks

tires are 11.5" wide. they stick about 1" fast fenders.

I love these tires, and in the rain they perform well too. I seriously never had problem with them. They are also somewhat quiet at Hwy speeds.

I am looking at upgrading from stock wheels. I am looking at a 2" lift and Duratrac 33" tires. my question is on tire width. Looking at 11.5". What is the functional difference between 11.5 and 12.5 or even the narrower one.
Cheers,
P.S.

you will find that a wider tire will tend to ride on top of mud or snow instead of cutting thru to firmer ground...this can cause loss of traction. some guys like a wider tire for the meaty look, but unless you plan on running beaches for the most part, you may want to stick to either the 11.5 or drop to the 10.5. still a good look to the tire, but retains better ability to cut thru to solid ground, and thats where the traction is...

even tire pressure can make a difference, i have some minor death wobble issues with my WJ and have lowered my tire pressure to 32 psi to see if it makes a difference. it doesn't help the death wobble issues, however i do notice that the softer tires don't grab quite like they did at 40psi...

this is just my opinion, and everybody has one. hope you find this helpful...
