Well I got my Daystar latches today, and guess what..............
They won't fit or latch.
And yes, I ordered the correct ones too.
There just has to be a difference between Canadian and American jeeps.
Well there's $60 shot to the moon!
Thank goodness I didn't chuck out the originals.
Oh, I did e-mail the mmfger.

I am noticing an increase in hood movement since the latches were replaced. Not quite at the same level of movement as the ones that were replaced yet but getting increasingly worse. I still cant believe that there isn't a warranty issue for this yet? Its causing a squeak I cant locate now as well , which is really annoying considering the heep only has 11000km on it? Squeaks and rattles I can live with in an older jeep or one I have taken off road but ......... But I kinda didn't want the newness to wear off this fast? Along with the squeaks and rattles there is a paint issue as well, And I must say I really think they did a oops with this 3.8 V6 ? Seems under powered to me, yes I know I only have 3:73 gears still but my old 4.0l seemed a way more powerful with 34,s and 3:23s ? I dont know maybe I am just getting pickier with age?

I don't believe you're getting pickier. Although this 2008 Sahara with 4800 Kms on it is my first practically new jeep, I'm finding more and more things I don't like about it and you mentioned some. I've also got a periodic rattle in mine at start up, which soon goes away. I already mentioned the hood latches and the Daystar replacement that don't fit. That annoying squeak when the clutch is let up and the poorly shifting tranny. I'm just about ready to let this thing go!

Never mind the dealer replacements or the Daystars. Use the HD zip ties around the rubber dog bone (there's a trick to putting them on , so if you would like to know just holler), it stops the latches from stretching too much and eliminates the hood movement. Have this on both an 08 unlimited and an 07 2dr, cheap and most effective. As for underpowered, well I guess that really depends on what you are use to driving. I run 3.73 and 35`` tires on the Unlimited no probs for me, but if you want more jam change up your gears to 4:88 or 5:13 and get a Superchip Flashpaq programmer to smooth out and maximize your shift points.

Hello Tracklock, No reply from Daystar in 2 weeks. I let Quadratec know, but I don't expect anything from them in any case, being only the retailer. I'm miffed that I don't know how to post a video or pictures. I pm'd Jeepplumber, who has installed them and he can add only that they are extremely tight. I would underline that a few times. Oh well, I'll keep trying. Thanks for your feedback! - Chasmoe.

Exclamation Re: Excessive Hood Movement

Hey! Chasmoe
My brother bought them last year and yes they are tight but mine are fine, stiffer then the OE, but works great, have you compare the lenght with the OE.

Yes I have compared the length, Tracklock, the Daystars are 1/32 inches short of 3 & 3/4 inches. The originals are almost smack on 4 inches, maybe out by a thou or so. The difference in spacing of the two holes is greater than 5/16 inches between the two latches. The originals snap on sharply, but the Datstars, being not able to stretch as much, won't give enough to even begin to engage the latch.
Maybe I could build a jig to stretch the Daystars and apply a bit of heat. That might give me some more length.

I have the Daystars on mine....They will close...you just need to muscle them. They are a lot harder to close but the hood no longer bounces!

OK I had this as well , got the daystars and stopped the hood floppin , but it was too late for the hood , the seam welds let go from the innerskin . So my dealership replaced the hood and now all is good .
