Does every Jeep rust on the outside door hinges? Im looking to buy white jeep and rust would certainly show. If i buy a darker color, it could hide it better? =P

I have an 08 JKU, and the top two on the front doors are showing signs of bubble rust, I was horrified when I saw this. The door is steel, the hinges are aluminim....plus the mirrors will hold water and provide a constant drip of water on the fronts.

I addressed this with my dealer, its a common problem, and since I'm under warranty no issues it will be covered....they need to make me happy with color match!!!!!

The other option is some folks bedliner the hinges, I've seen pictures and the contrast look good, on a white Jeep it looked really good! (Not on a new Jeep, perhaspe one that's a few years old, our out of warranty)

Not sure if the 2011's have addressed this issue, with this info you can ask your dealer....sales ok, but the guys that work on them out back know the real deal!

Other then that, no issues with mine, love it, will be getting a 2DR for myself. Hope this doesn't hold you back from getting into the best ride on the road....the most fun you can have getting from point A to B....just be sure to wave!

 

I have an 09 Wrangler and the hinges are OK as of yet. I did squirt/dribble some penetrating fluid along the top of the hing but I suspect it's from the two different metals. I think now with that thought I'm going to insert a little piece of plastic cut to shape between the hing and door skin.

 

Got an 03 tj sport don't see any rust around my hinges, I have been spraying jig-a-loo on them (actually any good lub would do) I find some bubbles just below the inside windshield on the pass side. Other than that no rust. Krowning it is a good idea (not just because their an advertiser on this site) but I had mine done and do personally recommend it be done.
