Default Black hinge options

Hello,

I was just wondering if any people out there have changed the colour of their stock hinges to black? I'm interested in doing this, but there seems to be a few different options.

1) Paint my own hinges black

2) Buy black powered coated replacements ( http://www.quadratec.com/products/13009_0042.htm )

3) Buy black covers for the existing hinges ( http://www.quadratec.com/products/13009_201.htm )

My main concern about painting them myself is that I dont have a garage to store my doorless jeep while I paint all the hinges. Also, I'd likely mess them up somehow haha.

Im thinking replacing them with the powered coated ones would likely be the best option. Has anyone bought the linked products?

Cheers,

Chris

no i haven't heard of this link......will look into it as i'm going to do just that. I think removing them without leaving an open gap to the plate in essential or be sure to seal when replacing them back on. I'm going to sand blast them and repaint black but still looking for info?

It's really simple to do it your self. Just cover the stock hinges with dupli-color bedliner. All you need to do is remove them and sand them lightly. Then spray them, it only takes maybe ten-15 minutes to dry.

As for the doorless jeep, hold off till a warm summer day and do it then. It all could be done in one day.

Buy a new set of Hinges. If you paint them yourself they will not stand up to our Canadian winters. Powder coated or the black covers is still the best option..

Factory paint is baked on.. Powder coat is baked on.. Spray paint is not.. Your choice, but I would rather keep the factory hinges unmarked..

So your telling a guy not to do something based on a guess?

I ran my hinges with dupli-color bedliner for over a year and it help up just fine. Only reason I powdercoated them was it cost me next to nothing.

No guessing at all my friend. I spent enough time painting vehicles to know that a spray bomb job is not gonna stand up. We are talking total different chemistries of paint and adhesion.
If you are on a budget and want to shoot your own hinges, go ahead. OP asked for best options, and that is what I gave him.

Thanks for the answers guys, I will probably end up just buying the powder coated replacements. The list of items is getting long, but they are now on there lol.
