My lightning upgrade!

My lightning upgrade!
Just installed my lightning upgrades last week on my 2008 WK and WOW!!!
I bought it throught a friend who works in auto parts and here's the details:
Installation was fine, some basics mechanic/electric skills required.
I placed the low beam ballasts inside the engine bay, attached to the fender (near filter box on passenger side and near battery on driver side) and used the provided 9006 harness/relay to get 12V from battery directly, only 1 OEM harness is needed to get 12V trigger signal.
For the fog, I placed the ballast into a cavity behind the metal bumber from under the car (location of the OEM plastic harness cover when no fog is installed). Somehow hard to reach and bolt, but well protected from water and snow. Uses of some zip tie to better hold the ballast. For wiring, I choose to simply plug the OEM harness into the ballast directly, as the 9145 is the same plug type.
And finally I also replaced the 9005 high beam/DRL with MTEC 85W Cosmo blue halogen bulb, so it better match the HID, instead of the yellowish OEM bulb.
OEM beam align is IMO also if not perfect... Fog could maybe lowered a bit and driver's side headlight could maybe tilt a bit on the right. But the light cutoff and transition from fog to head and high is superb and the amount of light on the ground is awesome.
Too bad HID are banned in the US because it's a real plus for security, if it's well done, not counting HID bulb last 3 times more and uses less current (except at warmup).
Sorry, I did'nt took pictures of the installation (I will) but here's some pictures of the lights :)

I bought it throught a friend who works in auto parts and here's the details:
- 9006 Eurovision HID 35W 6000k (pure white no coating bulb) in the low beam, 12V directly taken from battery with relay
- 9145 (H10) Eurovision HID 35W 3000k (yellow coating bulb) in the fog light, OEM harness directly into ballast (no relay)
- 9005 MTEC 85W Cosmo Blue halogen blue coating bulb (not HID but better match color of low beam)

Re: My lightning upgrade!
looks great, you've got to love having near daylight driving down the road, i forget the specs of the bulbs in mine, i know their sylvania silverstar ultra's, their not ment for the jeeps but they fit... best without going to HID and i've replaced all my fogs and spots with them aswell. their pretty gnarly for their price

Re: My lightning upgrade!
[QUOTE=WJCraig;537911]DO you have plastic or glass lenses? I've thought about doing a lighting upgrade, but I'm not sure how the stock lenses will handle the extra heat...
Craig? You want a light upgrade? After the abuse you give me? I thought you liked driving by braile
My lenses are plastic and I have no issues so nobody else should either
Thanks 94WJ! If you stand back you can't see the scratches in the plastic facias

Re: My lightning upgrade!
Well, driving to Vernon and back has some dark spots that could really benefit from a little more lighting. Especially with the critters that like to run out in the road sometimes (that goes for the downtown crackheads and junkies that jump into the road too )
Anyway, abuse was well deserved, I'm sure!
