Canada Help! engine light came on! remote starter shuts off

what's wrong with my jeep? i have a 2010 jeep grand cherokee limited that i bought in july 2011. Yesterday the engine light came on. Later when i remote started my car from in the house it shut off 10 seconds later. It starts fine with the key though. Any thoughts?? I'm afraid of being taken for a ride at the dealer service dept.

that means the remote start is working properly. the remote start is designed to shut down if you have an engine light coming on. Fix the issue that forces the engine light and your remote start will likely work again no prob.

you can probably save yourself a trip to the dealer to pull your code,

key the engine on (dont start) off on off on (so ON 3 times)
then it should give you a list of codes...

write them down here...
and check out WKJeeps.com Trouble Codes Page diagnostic trouble codes, it will give you a good idea of what your in for when you go to the dealer, if its a part failure you might be able to pick it up at napa and save yourself the trouble at the dealer (or it could be a warantee issue too)
