Their markup is way too high.
It should be more in the $200 range.

We'll take your word for it that you have a 2003 Cherokee. And
there is no reason to doubt you have a dealer. As for the $800,
that sounds about right for dealer rates, as there is a lot of
labor involved in installing a remote starter properly so it
doesn't interfere with the security and/or engine management
systems. This would be a decent deal only if the dealer is
willing to offer a full warranty on the install as far as not
breaking anything else...a warranty backed by Chrysler and
not just that individual dealer.
You can get an aftermarket one for less.
