Default First "Problem"

'Morning all,
Last week when I started Muriel ('00 GC Limited, 4.7l, Quadradrive) the engine started "hunting" (reved up to 1500, back down to normal idle). Did this for 3 or 4 times then settled down. I also noticed when on cruise she would downshift to go up hills that shouldn't need a downshift or didn't previously.
Perform service appeared in the display with warning beeps. I ran a code check and no codes are showing. I tried to reset the service inerval but can't get to 0. I can set service intervals from 3500k to 12.5k.
Will I have to take out a mortgage to get this fixed?
Thanks-Peter

Try cleaning the throttle body and sensors, check the vac lines off the manifold.

'Afternoon,
Thanks 04. I'll also check for manifold tightness...any other suggestions?
Should I be able to reset my service interval to 0k or is 3500k the lowest I can go?

I would almost bet that if the RPM's are jumping before you put it in gear it's probably the IAC valve. Clean it good and replace the gasket if it looks questionable. You can cut one out of a cereal box.
You can't reset the service interval to zero, set it to whichever is the closest to what you want and hit the right hand button. Should enter it.
