Changing the Brake Light Switch...

Changing the Brake Light Switch...
Just picked up a 2005 Grand Cherokee - and the brake lights don't work. Tail lights/back up lights/turn signals - all work - just the brake lights don't, and i've already replaced all the rear bulbs.
After doing some reading online, seems that the brake light switch is a common issue on them. I've called around, part is only $23 - and i read some "general" tips on changing the switch (which attaches at the top of the brake pedal, sometimes having to remove the steering column plate.
Has anyone done this, or know how to? I'm sure it's not too hard to do, just would like some pointers...
Thanks!

Re: Changing the Brake Light Switch...
Hello Photec,
I have 94 G C and i was having the same problem. My Brake and Tail light was n't working and i used many bulbs for this but when i tried to get the direct connection in the upfront then it damanges the front bulbs. after all i find the fault i my main switch. so if you try toreplace thhis main switch then it may solve your problem.

Re: Changing the Brake Light Switch...
Sorry, i had forgotten that i posted something on this issue.
Turns out it was just the damn fuse - who would have thought eh?
I changed the brake light switch, but it did the same thing, had already changed all the bulbs etc...
Turns out, the 10¢ fuse was all it was....
Guess that teaches me to start with the easy stuff first... then try replacing the harder stuff later.
I had read a few threads, and quite a few people were blaming their same issues on the switch, so that's where i started.
All's good.
