Burning smell from Diesel GC
I have a 2008 Grand Cherokee Diesel and found that after driving over 120km there is a burning smell coming from the engine. Temp guage readings are normal. Buring smell goes away once the engine cools down. has anyone experience anything similar.
Took it to the dealer and they thought it could be a leak but they could not find any place where there is a leak.

Re: Burning smell from Diesel GC
I know at regular interval (5000km I was told ???) the engine will run considerably more rich (more Diesel injected) to increase exhaust heat and auto-cleaning the DPF... that might be the smell. As for myself, I only have 10000 km so I'm not sure I had smell something yet.

Re: Burning smell from Diesel GC
can you identify if its an oil smell, exhaust smell, or coolant? that will help narrow down where you should be focusing...
any oil/fluid checks recently? maybe a cap wasn't put back on, and its getting warm...
maybe coolant overflow has a nick in the hose... a few things to check
