4wd system
Hey guys im new to the forum and i was hoping you would be able to help me out.
i bought a 1995 grand jeep cherokee with the 5.2L
Im having some problems I think with the 4wd system
I tried to shift the jeep into 4low and all i get is a horrible grinding and yes i shifted that way in neutral.
So i put it back into 4all time.
but when i turn hard like say do a u turn it almost sounds like to me a tire is dragging as if the jeep is still in 4low and it makes kind of a howling sound.
I drove it down the road and it drives beautifully....any ideas????
thanks!!

Re: 4wd system
to get into 4 low you need to be in neutral and either stationary or just moving, same thing when you are shifting out of it. It sounds like the t/case is stuck in part time 4high, they will sometimes do this if they are not used for some time. Just shift it through its positions a few times and it should eventually sort itself out.

Re: 4wd system
what i usually do is slap the transmission into neutral while rolling, move the transfercase into whatever gear, stop, and then put the transmission into reverse...
My 04WJ was notorious for getting stuck in 4 full time, and would bind up...
