Canada Soaking wet floor carpet?!?!?

hey guys,

i purchased new floor mats(weather tech mats) and when I went to remove the factory mats that hook in, i noticed the carpet underneath was soaking wet.
i then pulled up the carpet from the floor and its soaked all the way through...

any ideas why this might be?
i just bought the jeep a couple weeks ago.
i dont see any holes or anything in the floor, which is why im a little confused...

any idea?

I had a window seal that leaked , and once I forgot to put the floor plugs back in . And my old cj top leaked and ran in . You might want to pull the carpets and get everything dry again . And maybe when the carpet is out you can use a hose and run it over the jeep and see where the water is getting in . Just a thought , good luck .

Ya good call...

I just tried that and dont see any water coming in...my only thoughts are that maybe the drain plugs were leaking, so I silaconed them shut, OR, what I am kind of hoping ha ha, is maybe before I bought the jeep, the dealership was detailing it and the spilt a pail of water? ha ha, long shot, but it could happen, right? lol

I took all the carpets out to dry, once back in i will just have to keep checkin to see if it gets wet again..

Thanks dirtydodge!

Hey olliebamino, anything is worth a try eh !! , I always try the small simple things first , then go from there . , I even had a winsheild seal (the one between the body and winsheild frame leak once on a YJ . With any luck like you said maybe the dealer did spill in the tub . Good luck with that . Let us know what happens ..

check that the drain for the heating system is not plugged with debris. Very common problem but usually affects passenger side only.

I had this problem on my xj and the water was coming from up from where the fire wall is..like above the pedals up in that area, could be the rubber around the windshield wasn't sealed well, the drain/air intake on the top of the hood under the outside windshield has leaked, water isn't draining properly, also check around the doors, like u can take a hose and dose water all over the front take one area at a time. I get it on my tj now too sometimes, but very little ends up on top of my rubber mat, who knows where its coming from.

my mat isnt wet up around the fire wall...i was looking at it breifly today(its still raining so i wont start ripping **** out til it stops), but it looks as if it may be leaking in from around the door and downward..

the piece of mat that goes underneath the trims(plastic panels) closest to the door is soaked, and it seems like its ran to the rest of it cuz its damp...

im going to rip it apart when the sun comes out and have a look, then if i cant figure it out, ill bring it to dodge...

thanks for the input guys, appreciate it.

Hey, do you have a freedom top? if so check that. It rained heavy yesterday, and I noticed that mine was leaking in. So I'm taking it back to Dodge/Jeep to have it waterproofed. Aparently it's common , especially, if you remove your tops frequently.

Yea I do have the 3 piece, but it wasnt leaking from the top.

I brought it to the dealer last week, water was leaking in around the door, the cowl, and where the door strap bolts on...they fixed it, it was covered under warranty
