Default Overheating???

A little over a week ago, had a mini-niagara under the front end of my '92 Cherokee 4.0--found I had a 340.00 bill for a new water pump, did not have the time to do it myself, (no tools either), as well as found the firewall vacuum hose chewed up where it goes into the vacuum pot. Went for a short, quick ride to-day after work, and the jeep has developed an awful squeal, which I am sure is the fan belt. Also more anti-freeze on the garage floor and the reservoir is empty! I am wondering if I got screwed in the small town where I live, or perhaps, the overheating, squaling belt and glycol on the garage floor are interconnected!?? Sure could use some tips from readers (I have already thought of the burning at the stake, as well as paying someone to steal it and collect ideas--and have discounted both as non-starters) so any tips, comments would be appreciated! PS I know enough to not really be trusted with tools

Hey Four,
You may or may not have been screwed and I think THAT is an entirely different matter but I think a return trip to the garage is next on your list. You sound pretty PO'd, and rightly so, calm down and approach the garage with a "Gosh, You guys did a fine job of fixing my water pump but I still have this problem" attitude and they may be able to help you out at no added cost.
Maybe the rebuilt WP is bad (not a fault of the mechanic). Let THEM figure it out. You've paid your $340 and IF that was the only problem THEY shoud fix you up......stay calm

Absolutely right, Savasa, I was certainly PO'd, however, not really at the guys that did the job--(till to-nite)-I was peeved at the nickle and diming that the car has developed. I really began to have doubts about it previously, but the attitude of --well, darn, there can't be MUCH more wrong :o*!!!--Today I found out the guys that did the water pump "forgot" a bushing/spacer when they installed it--the hub assembly for the fan blades literally rocks back and forth--this was found by another mechanic who also found a hole in the rad --how much more?--in another post i will relate what I have had to change so far--too peeved at myself right now--back to the shop as soon as I get a day off--thanks for the reply!!--AL
