Default Gas milage.

Hey ! We've had our 2009 Wrangler X now for a few weeks and WOW , I'm glad we didn't buy it for stellar gas milage. It has a 2" lift and 285/70/17 tires and have yet to break 400 kilometers for a tank. I'm thinking about putting in a G-Force chip. I'll bite on the 69$ price just to see the difference (if any). Any thoughts guys and girls ? Oh , the Jeep only has 18k on it.

Is it auto or manual? what is your gear ratio? I found a huge difference when I keep the rpm's down around 2,000. No shotgun starts and use cruise on the highway in your highest gear. I get about 550 per tank now. got 620 on a highway trip once. 80 L tank and stock everything.

2008 JK Unlimited here. 38K, Auto, LSD, 3:73's, bone stock....on the highway based onn eco meter 9L/100 or aprox 22 to 23 MPG. With the hardtop on.

Driving style IS the biggest thing to fuel consumption. Agreed, 2000 RPM is the sweet spot. WIth my set up at 100Km/hr I'm twisting about 1900 RPM in O/D. Manage the skinny pedel!

Regardless, worth every litre I put in, its a Jeep, knew this going in, I just make adjustments in my spending to compensate for it.

Happy Jeepin!

I guess when I really think about it the only thing I'd like to be better is my RANGE per tank. I'm not too concerned about my actual mileage per gallon. I can't say I've ever bought anything for economy...want to talk ****-poor mileage I just look at my boat ! LOL Still wondering about that E-prom chip though.

JEEP = Just Empty Every Pocket.

I'm down to about 360km/tank.... Better re-gear soon I'm thinking.

I find ours keeps jumping in and out of O/D when you "try" and drive the 80k speed limit and rpm is 1500,2300rpm when it jumps out. I notice on the 401 around 2100rpm I'm doing 117mph. I also know my speedo is out about 4mph from my GPS speed.

Installed the chip on my 07 Liberty with 113000 km. The install was easy and the unit itself looks rugged.
After the break-in period I noticed an increase in acceleration at all speeds and a nice kick in the but at take off.
My mileage does not seam any different but I haven't had the Chip on very long and have not figured out my actual mileage yet.
I have also re gapped my plugs, cleaned the throttle body, gave the engine a Slick 50 treatment, and am running 5W30 synthetic.
I think the the above maintenance will have more of an effect on the gas mileage than the chip but even if that's the case I still think it's worth the $69 US plus shipping for the extra um-mph I get from my 3.7L Liberty.(no knocking or pinging or anything weird)
As soon as I figure out the gas mileage I will post it.
