Bob Caygeon Trail Riding
Hey guys, can anyone who's had experience off-roading up in Bob Caygeon give me some info . . .
1. If just a few of us want to go up (from Mississauga area) do we need any form of permission? or are the main trails public? (ie. concession lake trail)
2. What is our best option for tenting? Can we just tent near the start of the trail? or. . .?
3. Is the only place to get maps of the trails through OF4wd membership?
4. Anything else we should know? Advice (beyond the obvious . . . specific to Bob Caygeon area)?

don't think you need permission to run public trails, fire roads, etc.
if in doubt, talk to the locals when your in caygeon... they should be able to point you in the right direction...
as for tenting, if your on crown land you're good, private land you need permission from the landowner.
for maps i use this website...
Center for Community Mapping
the resolution is better than google, most snowmobile trails are shown and often shared with fire access roads, etc...
don't be surprised if the place looks like a ghost town, lol... after labor day you could almost fire a cannon down main street without hitting anyone... lots of little cottage/camping resorts around the area, rates to tenters are typically pretty cheap, if you have a few buddyies going why don't you all chip in and rent a cottage for the weekend? now that they're into the off-season you should be able to get a smokin' deal...
have fun, hope this helps...
