Default 2008 Grande Cherokee Overland - Door Lock Issues

Hey guys!

My 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee door locks are not working. The issue started when I was hauling my trailer back from camping, and I noticed smoke coming from the middle of the jeep. It was like something under the middle of the vehicle was over heating and when I felt the metal on the bottom of the passenger seat where it bolts into the floor, it was red hot. Anyways I stopped and at that point the windows and the door locks no longer worked. I took it to the mechanic and ended up having to replace the water pump and thermostat in the Jeep. The mechanic wasn't able to source out why the fuse kept blowing for the door locks and window. They ended up rewiring the windows, so those work, but the door locks still blow the fuse when you hit the lock and unlock button. So you can put the fuse in without it blowing, but it blows when you get the button, or if you use the key fob to lock or unlock the doors.

I spent 9 hours literally disconnecting every wire in the Jeep and putting in a new fuse and hitting lock and unlock and it would blow the fuse every time. So all door wires, back gate, everything was disconnected. So I don't think it is a short wire. Anyone have any other suggestions on where I should be looking next?

Thank you!

Try a Google search of 2008 Grand Cherokee Overland - Door Lock Issues there's a multi amount of remedies for different problems
with the locking mechanism. Could be when the motor jams you are getting smoke from burning or the mechanism itself needs lubricating
