Re: oct 19th run
T ignore him he did sweet F U C K all to that motor and it probably had no oil he over heated it like 3 times on the powerlines while well above 7000rpm then got buried in a whole and was somewhere between 7k and valve float when a rod let go and put a 3in by 3in whole in the block!
my 82 pick up had 300k on the 22r i spun it around 7500 all the time and it never failed me
the 22re in the runner has been hydrolocked twice the first time being VERY serious a d it some how survived been flopped over ran on its side for extended periods etc etc
thats why my tracker is getting a toy drivetrain- i alos love the gear options for t case(S)

Clearly you haven`t had any experiance with a 1.9VW motor.(AAZ)
5000rpm is plenty to keep the tires clean in mud..
The diesel is easy to wire and will go many more kms (500 000 plus) then any gas motor, and will do it much more economicaly. It`s as light weight as a 1.6 with twice the power as well. It also will run veggie oil (free fuel)
Perfect for my DD/trail truck.
Only mod required to up the HP is to the injector pump and turbo. Much less expensive then the gasser.
Really though, mud isn`t much fun. Climbing is where it`s at..

Re: oct 19th run
I`ll be done the swap in the spring. It`s going to be my DD. Currently rust free :)
You only need an oil pan if you run the IFS. I am going SAS.
The exhaust drops on the passenger side. Lots of room for it. I am not using any kit. I will build my own motor mounts and adapter plate. I have a drill, measuring tape, and plasma cutter.
The only thing I can`t get away from spending money on is the remote oil filter adapter and the pyrometer. I`m using the golf radiator with remote pressurized resevoir and evans waterless coolant.
