A friend just bot a 1990 started stopped ran well then stop some place came back out again and it won't start again. We checked for spark..theres not spark but we can hear the pump. Turns over great. Checked the fuse box under hood drivers firewall all seems okay. Ended up I picked up on my dolly and bot it to his home. Any idea's

Fixed and running like a charm. Something very interesting actually. We changed the distributor, rotor, and plugs (they were shot) Whoever changed the rotor last time overtightened the screws and cracked the rotor, so the little crack just didn't make it anymore. Started it up after doing all this and first turn, runs sooo smooth..Next were going to change the fuel filter and air filter. But I must say hes one happy fellow again.. so am I that this fixed everything.

Sorry Mr.White, i just saw this post, Glad to see you sorted it out...

im working on a friends Benz who is having the same issue (ran fine until a hard stop or bump, and its a broken distributer, thats getting enough bite to actually run)

We been looking for a shop manual for this 1990 190E 2.6. and so far cannot locate one "Hayne" doesn't make one for this year they stopped in the 80's. If you know of anywhere (not too expensive-would be nice) to obtain a shop manuel it sure would help. He doesn't even have a owners manual for it..that I am going to try a local Mercedes dealer maybe come up lucky. As I did with my tj got a free-bie.
