steering column loose

Default steering column loose

hey guys,

the steering column on my jeep is pretty loose and im wondering why, but more how to fix it. theres like a half inch of play in all directions, up,down and side to side, if not more. anwyay just wondering, cant realy figure this one out.

its lose cause i was bored and came over and played with it for a while . u can fix anyhting in the world with duct tape . easy :)

I'm looking for an answer but in the mean time just in case its because u have 35" plus tires on ur jeep and it just plainly decided to break on u then heres an alternative, a heavy duty replacement:

No i dont have tilt, and ive got stock tires as well, im in the process of removing the steering column now, in putting in a new ignition so im hoping it find whatever is the source of the problem, but having a bit of trouble

im gonna attach some pics of where im stuck, the haynes manual i have doesnt seem to tell me much about the non airbag model steering columns.

any help would be appreciated

That flat black steel ring has to be pressed down and a lock ring around the steering shaft removed. The steel ring is spring loaded.Then remove that steel ring to get to the signal switch underneath
