tranny help 00 tj sport

Default tranny help 00 tj sport

im new to jeeps i have a 2000 tj sport 5 speed my tranny is gone first gear grinds and second gear i can put in and let clutch out and doesnt stall now im trying to find out if a tranny from a cherokee or a grand cherokee will fit in my jeep with out put shafts etc im gonna take tranny out to see if its the ax-15 or the nv3550 would either one work

would the ax-15 or nv3550 work either way or wat other trannys would bolt up or change bell housing

Can't be much help but the YJ's and XJ's have internal clutch slave whereas I believe the TJ has an external slave (something to keep in mind). I've never seen a GC with a manual transmission.

AX-15s from XJs newer than 1995 have external slaves. The transmissions themselves are actually the same, it's just the bellhousing that's different.

Transmission swap for bad synchros sounds like a LOT of work. You sure you don't want to just learn to double-clutch instead?
