Here's an old post -- it seems it works on YJs and CJs but not so good on TJs. How to put a 2007 JK electric swaybar in your YJ--WRITEUP WITH PICS

Enjoy!

Indeed! You still have options, though, ranging from manual all the way to automatic:
- for manual disconnects there's nothing to discuss, there's lot's of options there, including your own bolts :-)
- Teraflex, Skyjacker and others have sway bar disconnects that have a little **** that you twist to select the level of articulation; they have various models for various lift sizes (including no lifts), and it costs about $500 in real money.
- Off Road Only (ORO) have the famous SwayLoc. You can get that in manual for about the same price but then you can extend it later with a remote control in the cab. You can also combine it with their AirRock suspension and it gets controlled automagically by the computer, there's no button for you to press. The advantage for this (even the manual one) is that your sway bar is never entirely disconnected, thus keeping the Jeep in control.

Sky's the limit but nothing's cheap :-)

Good luck!

Just as a side note, I wouldn't recommend driving with the sway bar disconnected, the Jeep can become quite unstable, mostly on the road but off road also. That's why I believe a dual rate disconnect is the best approach since the sway bar is never disconnected. It is also the most expensive. I can't streess enough the importance of being careful (and not alone :-)) off the beaten path, this is one of those things that can bite you in the behind when you're in an off camber situation and the Jeep start swaying (since the anti-sway bar is now disconnected...). Articulation is important but it is not paramount to a good outing.

Another side note, if you plan on installing a lift kit at some point, quite a lot of them come with quick disconnects. If you see that in your future (although that's another expensive proposition) maybe you're better off waiting?

Now, that being said here are options:
- you can buy a pair of disconnects for $200 bucks or so.
- you can make your own. If you do a little search you can find stuff, like this (lots of other interesting stuff there, too), or this (for a CJ but you can adapt it)

Good luck,
Calin
