Usa Softop to Hardtop switch

I have a 2008 4 door Wrangler Unlumited X. It came with the 3 peice hardtop, but I had a soft top installed by the dealer. I want to put the hardtop back on for the winter. Do I have to take the soft top frame off, or can I just put the hardtop over it?

Get rid of the soft top for the winter. You'll get really fed up with it packed in the back getting in the way and getting damaged.

Store it in a nice place.

Yes, I want to take the soft top off for the winter, but do I have to remove the frame also- or just the canvas.? Will the hard top fit with the soft top frame in place? My soft top was not factory installed. I had it done after I bought the Wrangler with the 3 pc Freedom top. Thanks

Not a clue. Mine's a '98.
Totally different beast.
But I'd still lose all parts of the soft-top for the winter.
Like I said, you'll get fed up with hardware with no purpose kicking around in the back.

My daughter's 2005 TJ has to have the soft top removed before the hardtop is installed. You can on this one separate the soft top from the frame, and leave the frame in the back, then install the hardtop, but like the previous dude mentioned, the frame is in the way. I take my daughter's frame off and leave all screws and hardware in her glove box until I put back the soft top. Hope this sheds some light.
