no spark/ fire
hi all, i'm having problem with my jeep. it died on me on a parking lot and will not start. it will turn over with no problem but won't catch to start. thought it may be the fuel pump but you can feel it start when you turn key on. cheeked for fire and none, replaced the coil with new one(the old one was 13 years old and done) and still nothing, no spark still. took cap and button off, a little wear, sanded the contact to white metal, replaced and still nothing. does anyone have any ideas.
thanks

Re: no spark/ fire
Seems to me its shown on his profile as a 98 tj.
I been waiting for someone to reply to his question, Here's what we did on
my Son 1990 Mercedes having the same problem,
The distributor was mounted with over kill tightening on the
mounting bolt (off hand I don't remember how many pounds its supposed to be at) cracked the plastic. Changed the dist.didn't over kill the mounting
bolts, at the same time changed plugs/wires and viola turned the key and so smooth
no problems since..but not sure on his year weather its got a dist or not.

Re: no spark/ fire
Where did you check for spark? At a grounded spark plug or by grounding the coil wire before the distributor? I'm just wondering if by sanding the distributor contacts you made the air gap too large.
