new tj owner
Hey guys, new to the site and new to the jeep world. I've had the jeep for about a month now and I took it to a good mechanic to get a diagnostic when I got it. He said everything was in excellent shape considering it was a 2000.
I've noticed however that when I'm driving around in first or second gear (say in a parking lot) when i press and release the clutch, I can hear a kind of clunk at fully depressed and fully released. Any idea why this might happen, is it normal? My dad says this is normal, but I think I should ask for a second opinion before I go to a mechanic.
Thanks for your help

Do you have any kind of lift?
Have you checked the fluids?
How pronounced is the clunk?
Did you check for play in the u-joints?
Are you sure it's only in 1st and 2nd when going slow (and able to hear it)?
Maybe it does it all the time but you just can't hear it at higher speeds.
Could be any number of things, hard to diagnose without more details.
My 98 makes all kinds of strange worrisome noises. So far none have been fatal.
Sometimes I just have to turn the radio up and they magically go away.

Yeah you're right about all of that. it would be hard to diagnose without more info. it does do it going from third to fourth at higher sppeds now that i've been paying attention to it.
