It could be the 2 pcs of metal which the rubber from the rear window come in contact with to secure it from leaking in a rain. Funny there not there thats part of the rear tub, also when you put on the soft top those 2 pcs of metal are used in securing the top down on the corners

The metal pieces are there.I found them in the consule after I bought it.Figured them out but there still is a gap between them and the hard top corner.I can turn from the driver's seat and look out through.Any suggestions what's missing?

Hi Bern. This is my first post as I too have aquired, at age 72, my first Jeep, 2003 TJ Sport. Looking forward to exploring the back roads of NS with my pug Winston (vanity plate "Winston's Ride", but not before solving the intricacies of removing the hard top and installing the soft. Will probably be calling on the forum guys for help in this regard! Happy New Year and Safe Jeeping.

Sounds like to me, something is sitting between the Hard top and the Tub itself, which should not be.

It might even be the Top is not tightened properly. I might suggest undoing the front 2 latches, re-seating the top to the tub and putting all 6 bolts through each hole and tightening them down. You don't need to crank it hard, just snug. Then re-attach the 2 latches on the front window.

If possible, can you post pics?

Hi Bern

Welcome to the wonderfull world of Jeeps. :-)

Bought my 03' about 2 1/2 years ago and also had some issues with the tailgate/window seal on the hardtop.

I ended up buying a new rubber seal as the original one was deformed and not seating properly.

With the new seal, the 2 metal brackets do not need to be installed when the hard top is on. On mine, the plastic frame on the bottem edge of the hatch glass was also "split/cracked" about mid way which would soak the carpet when I had heavy rain...sealing the crack with RTV sealant fixed that issue.

Hopefully this helps.

If you could post pictures of your "gaps", it might help in guiding you to a fix.

Cheers
