Ya gotta maintain it if you want it to keep running. Sometimes you need to drop some dineros to replace rusted out fenders and a few other worn out components like I'll be doing soon. You can't just beat it to $hit and expect it to last. That goes for pretty well any vehicle. I expect to hand this one off to my daughter when she graduates from high school. She's in grade 5 now, and I'll be driving it every day between now and that fateful day. Maybe she'll inherit a classic |
Re: mileage truth
i am definately not a model driver :D i have an 04 TJ Rocky Mountain 4.0 with a 5 speed stock as of yet, and i average 400 km per tank with about equal highway to city driving
|
Re: mileage truth
I have friends who have had the 4.0 go over 400,000km before a rebuild was needed.

Re: mileage truth
My 4.0L TJ on 33's was getting the same milage as my 2.5L TJ on 32's was which was about 380 km.
The 4.0L is on 35's now and I get about 280 km to a tank. The 35's make a drastic difference on milage and power with the stock gears. |
Re: mileage truth
as most people have been saying, jeeps don't get that far on a tank of gas especially
lifted and bigger tires etc. etc.but if yous must know lucky if i get 325kms . |

You do know this is the TJ forum, right???
From what I gather, throttle body mods are virtually useless for TJ's and K&N filters rank right up there with the worst possible mods ever. But that's just me. I'm glad you noticed that huge increase in horsepower lol. Sorry man, but nothing beats good maintenance and sensible driving as far a mileage is concerned. It goes like it's on 33's Stock Throttle Body at 58mm vs a 62mm Throttle Body... You're gonna get a power gain. Can't say much for those throttle body spacers though. Had one on my old 2.5L TJ and I notice a slight increase in throttle response but it had no effect on milage. |
Re: mileage truth
I would never go for the 4 cyl my friend has it and has to down shift alot on the highway just to try and keep it at 110km it really sucks for him he really wishes he bought a 6cyl

And 110kph should be no problem for a 2.5. |
