Canada lookin to buy a jeep

Hey. Im a University Student on a very limited buget, yet I need something to get me to work and school.............plus up a few old dirt paths and mud holes on the weekend. I was thinking about buying and old tj for cheap. About what should I expect for only spending 1000-1500 dollars on it?

well you wont get a TJ for that kind of money. the TJ was built from 97 to 06 so the oldest TJ is only 11. you could probably pick up an older YJ for that much. maybe an 87 or 88. it will be in rough shape. when buying an old one make sure you look under the carpets in the drivers and passengers foot area. they tend to be rusted through. you can probably find one with less than 200,000km on it and so the engine and drivetrain should have lots of life if they have been maintained well. good luck
