Gearings
Anyone with a 6 cy tj running 4.56 gears on 33 in rubber? Wondering what your rpm's are like say in 4th and 5th gear.

Re: Gearings
Thats a good question.I'm about to regear and was debating on 4:10 or 4:56 on 33's with selectible lockers. Some feedback on this question would be great.

Re: Gearings
Well I might have a chance for an axle with dana44 with 4.56 in it and a locker, and the front I would just switch the gears over into mine so would keep the d30 in the front. We'll sit back and see what kind of respond we get to my question.

Re: Gearings
Can't really comment. I'm driving a 2.5L with 4.10's.
I don't think this link answers your question, but it's kind of neat. Tires, Gears, MPH and RPM Relationship Between |
Re: Gearings
I know about the site where I can calculate the whole thing, but I like first hand info, straight from the horses mouth (as the saying goes) its a little more acquirate.

Re: Gearings
I have an '06 TJ sport with a six-speed and 30X9.50's and it seems really low geared, all stock. I usually start in 2nd gear. I bet I could run 33's no problem.
Anyone know how to check factory gear ratio? I never bothered to look. Went and looked, front axle tag reads 611312-4. Nevermind, went and checked the rear diff tag. 3.73's, bummer. The 6-speed makes it SEEM really low geared... tranny maybe has good reduction? I'm thinking for this beast, 4.10's with 33's would be roughly similar to the gearing I have now. When I hit 120Km/h, I am at around 3K Rpm in 6th. I can't imagine 4.10's or 4.56's in this thing, it already seems too low for 30's. Jet |
Re: Gearings
The deal I thot I had fell thur. Wrong bolt pattern (need 2 spares) and not lining up underneath. So back to looking. like a couple of Ruby axles, or at least a rear w/4.10's and change the gears on the front..

Re: Gearings
I was wondering the same thing, most people around here are running large rubber 36" and up so I can't find anybody who is running 33's with 4:10's to find out what its like. 4:56 seems to low for me and I don't want to spend the cash and find out the hard way. It's still a DD so I need good RPM's all the way through. I've got 3:73's now but 5th gear is only good for flat stretches and if Im heading west there is not much of that going through the mountains LOL.

Re: Gearings
33's with 4.10 gears will be very close to stock gearing with stock tires. 4.56 will be great around town and on the trails, just a bit limiting on the highways.

Re: Gearings
Thats all I needed to hear, I've been checking out all the graph's and such for wheel size/gearing and had pretty much settled on the 4:10's. Sorry if I Jacked your thread Mr. White.
