First post and soft top installation question
Greetings to all, first-time poster here.
I put on the soft top (2008 Wrangler 2-door) for the first time yesterday. Had a real tough time getting it to fit/stretch. I imagine that there's a certain amount of first-time stretching that it has to do, but I'm wondering if this is beyond normal.
With the back part tucked in place, I had probably the better part of 3 inches' gap between the front header and the front anchor hooks and just no amount of pushing could close the gap and allow to hook on.
Tried the reverse (which believe the recommended way) of just hooking on the at the front, but not closing the latches, then pulling down on the back of the top to hook on the rear corner pieces, but had to pull down with some serious force with two people and a third then to attach at the bottom.
No way was this anywhere near as easy or a one-person job as shown in the jeep.com videos. Opening the sunrider part, there was no way to close it without undoing everything and starting from scratch.
Does it sound as if this is normal first-time stretching, or does it sound as if there's a problem with the top?

Re: First post and soft top installation question
Yes, normal... these things will kick your butt first time on. Hot sunlight, and patience wil help you. And once you have the top on, leave it up for a few days. It will stretch to its intended size. Good luck

Re: First post and soft top installation question
Thanks, good to know someone else's RL experience. As a matter of fact, I noticed yesterday that it was already a good bit better. Hopefully a few more days will see it a lot easier.
