Default CB Installation

I want to install my cb (its a large radio) in my 03 tj sport and was wondering where most jeepers mount it. I want easy access to it and not mounted so it gets drowned the first time I take my jeep boating.

No I don't want to destroy the console or fool around anywhere near those &%$# airbags. There are other places I am sure guys are mounting it.

I was thinking the same thing, not much room anywhere. Looks as though most people mount them just to the left of the transfer case shift lever. Stays fairly dry, not in the way and close access. Think I'm going to try and get the center console out and attach the bracket properly.

A buddy put a board overhead from the front center to the roll bar and mounted it to the board, but its sloppy. I am tossing ard the idea of running metal from pass to drv's side (attaching to the roll bars) close to the sun visors, lots of wasted space there, but I haven't seen anything there, it wud be a first. lol Let me know what ur idea looks like when finished.

Well I removed the carpet (didnt want holes in it) and attached the braket to the transmission hump just below the T case shifter handle. I was alittle concerned with it being in the way but I don't even notice it there. Stayed dry and was an easy reach when needed. Worked nice!

hey mr White you could also fabricate a sound bar that will acomadate your CB and speakers on the side then you can still have music and you CB even with top down its over head nice and dry easy to reach an in the most dead zone in the jeep yes you need to install CB facing forward but it rare you need to change chanels to the point of losing control of jeep, if need be you could use you rear view to see the display, just a that is where mine is going in my CJ5A Im really short on realestate in there

An overhead CB is a good idea. It's out of the way of everything and won't get wet unless you go underwater.:)
