Canada 4 wheel drive seizing?

I have a 1998 jeep TJ, when I put it in 4 wheel it makes an awful nose when I start drive. Does anyone know what it might be and what I can do about it. All info. is greatly appreciated.

What kind of awful noise? Try being a little more descriptive if you want someone to diagnose your problem. And are you talking 4 hi or 4 lo? Or both?

It could be something as simple as the fact you're not supposed to use 4WD on dry pavement.

Or is there any oil in the transfer case, is the sound coming from the front, back, or underneath?

I hate seagull posters.
They fly in, pollute a forum with stupid crap, then fly off never to be heard from again.
I bet he was trying out 4 lo on paved roads and now feels too stupid to admit it.
I'll admit it. I did it once. At first. Took me two days to get it out of low.

More than likely, imagine the time answering questions that we could save if someone would actually read that little book in the glovebox they give you with the Jeep...

I have had many four wheel drive vehicles over the years and have not heard this noise before. I realize that you are not suppose to run 4 on dry pavement and never have like some people, especially for two days. As for the seagull comment, I have a thing called a business that does not run itself, kids to look after and take to dance, sports, etc., as well as a wife that I like to spend time with. I am sorry; I don't have the time to sit in front of the computer all day looking at forums!! I guess this site was a waste of time joining!

Cheers,
Benn

Could be anything. Checking your fluids might help.
And what CrazyWJ242 said. If you want help you need to make more effort to describe the problem.
What did you think? That you'd post an ultra-vague question and then magically, without looking for a response or clarifying your issue, would one day wake up with all the answers imprinted on your brain?
And we all work and have lives, some just work harder and live better.
