Exclamation 2011 Jeep Roof Leak w.hardtop and soft. - Fairview Chrysler

Well, some of you may remember after retiring my old Jeep and truck I pulled the trigger on a beautiful 2011 w. leather interior from Fairview Chrysler in Burlington (thread here).

Well, a few weeks ago I noticed the passenger floor was very wet, not just damp but actually worth using a towel to soak up. I had figured it was from a leak in the soft top. We ran the hose over the front window area and near the passenger side and couldn't see any leaks. Went to Erin Dodge for them to buff out some oily stain from the bumper and brought up the issue with them. Erin Dodge rep suggested I either a) replace the hardtop and avoid using the soft top or b) take the truck in for service and have the service department inspect it at Fairview Chrysler.

We opted for the hard top replacement and I figured I would just take the truck in next summer for the soft top to be installed by them, perhaps I made an error this year? So my Jeep buddy and I replaced the hardtop and we were done.

After last nights rain, here we go, wet floor. I think the pictures give the best explanation. I did send Fairview Chrysler an email and I hope they get back to me by or on Tuesday.

I am not feeling burnt yet but now it will come down to how the dealer works with me on fixing this. Ideally I can bring it to a local Dodge dealer instead of having to trek to Burlington which is a bit of a distance from me though their mannerism in Burlington struck me as far better than ErinDodge (used to service my srt8 there).

Anyhow, pictures below and any input would be great.

Check that the heater drain is not plugged with debris.

" the part from Chrysler was a simple piece of foam, much like weatherstripping (I think someone discovered that already if I remember correctly) about 3 inches long maybe 1/2 inch wide and installed (glued) it on the inside edge of the door, (closest to the dash) where there is no rubber, there is a gap there. who knows why. It wasnt a recall after all, but an "update", which is something the factory discovered may fix a problem. If you never have service you'll never be told....I'll try and get a pic of it to demonstrate....pretty simple....but not sure if it works....yet !! You would think they would just replace the rubber with a full piece. Dunno"

I had posted early August about getting caught with the full hardtop off and had the issues with the electronics....which was not related at all. However on getting it fixed....the above is what they did....for leaks, its not a recall item, just an advisory, so if you take it in they should do it, unless yours is intact....dunno where you hail from but I had service at DeWildt....Hamilton...Fred was the advisor...great service, took my 02 Gr. Cherokee there too....I bought at Taylor in Hamilton, but after taking it in for the electronics harness failure...wasnt impressed with their advisor. And fix seems to have worked.

Alright, shame on me for not updating this.

I took the Jeep in and they fixed a known problem of the seals not being aligned. They had my vehicle for the day. I have the work order somewhere, I will dig it out if anyone is interested.

There is a TSB to install a weatherstrip stuffer into the upper corner of the passenger door and the addition of some butyl tape as well...
