I just got a 2005 wrangler x and found some straps in the center consel... What r these straps for?

 

They are your grab handles. To assist in getting in and out of your jeep. I assume... see here

Ours ( Wrangler X ) had a strap in the glove box that assumed was for the windshield tie down. We bought preowned (18k) and the owners manual was missing.

 

My 2005 TJ Sport manual (pg#136) says the strap is for tying down the windshield. It's located in the glove box and it's exactly that, a strap, but the previous owner could very well have invested in (as we here call'em) "holy sh*t" (grab) handles and left them for you.

 

Yup could be a windshield strap for sure, Mine had 2 new grab handles in the glove box when it was delivered from the factory :)

 

well,in my 2001 TJ owner's manual it says the long straps are for tying the backseat in the folded up position and there should also be a third shorter strap for the windshield tie down.
