Help Needed! Recently my '03 Jeep TJ Sport will not start, however, the radio; lights; blower all work just fine. I recently installed a new battery last week thinking this might fix the issue. No issues and Jeep started all week until this morning. From other Jeep forum threads it appears it may be an issue with the Starter? I had the Jeep undercoated approximately a month 1/2 ago and wonder if this may have caused an issue with some of the connectors (i.e. battery to starter etc)?

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hey Ken,
I can't see how undercoating would cause problems unless someone bumped or hit a connection with the undercoating wand. Just as a silly thought...have you been putting gas line anti-freeze in your tank? It's been cold in Truro and you may be frozen up. Can you move your ride to somewhere warm for half a day or so for a thaw-out? Merry Christmas.....Peter

Thank you for the reply, much appreciated! I had an opportunity to look at it yesterday and I think it may be an issue with the starter. I tried jump-starting it and it would not turn-over. I don't think there is any issue with power coming from the battery. I tried lightly tapping the starter with a hammer and immediately after doing this, the Jeep turned-over on the first try! I plan to change the starter this week and hope the problem is corrected.

Hi Peter, thank you for the reply! It has been cold in Truro and have not put in any gas line antifreeze. Good tip and I will pick some up this week. I have a heated 2 car garage, but my Jeep is mainly parked out in the cold. The Jeep has been thawing for the past 24 hours in the garage and I plan to change the starter this week and hope the problem is corrected.

I had the same Jeep as you, and had to change my starter also, I found "Carquest" to have it in stock and at a better price than CTC, maybe chk both places out in your area.

Thank you for the tip (always trying save some money) and will definitely review the Carquest website. My '03 Jeep only has 77,000 Kms, and I was hoping with the low Kms I would save some money on replacing items like a starter etc. I hope the new starter solves the issue. I was off road 2 weeks ago and didn't turn the Jeep off once in fear that it would not start again.
