Default 1999 Jeep Wrangler - A 5.9L Magnum TJ

We’ve said it before, and we will most likely say it again: TJs are awesome. But what’s better than a stock TJ? Well, a TJ with a large lift, some 35-inch tires, and an Atlas II transfer case. What’s better than that? How about a TJ with a large lift, some 35-inch tires, high-pinion axles, an Atlas II transfer case, and a 5.9L Dodge V-8. Sounds good to us, now outfit that TJ with some useful outdoor equipment like a winch, some rocker guards, and a swinging tire rack, and you’ve got something very similar to this TJ which is owned by a man that we will call Mr. X. Mr. X wants to keep his name secret because the truth is Mr. X did not build this Jeep. Dwight Brinkerhoff of San Diego Superchargers built most of it for him, and Mr. X wants Dwight to get the credit for this Jeep creation.
Chassis & Driveline
Dwight had a big task before him. Not only did he have to shoehorn 360 cubic inches of Dodge V-8 between the framerails of the Jeep where a four-popper was, but he also had to get it to run. First Dwight fabbed up some motor mounts and added a crossmember to them to keep the Jeep’s frame from twisting when the V-8 spools up under load. After the 5.9L was lowered into the engine bay, Dwight, with the help of Bill Tagney, owner of San Diego Superchargers, faced the huge task of wiring the engine, the gauges, computer, and transmission together.
