ok so your in alberta, lets get to the tops issue. hard or soft is almost exactly the same as far as fuel mileage is concerned. i am originally from edmonton and ran both hard and soft there. the hard top is quieter, soft top obviously easier to take down/put up. i have bought many jeeps new and used and always sell the hard top and put on a new bestop supertop. quiet, tight and no problems. seems you are mostly concerned with fuel economy, the chip is a waste of money. i have known quite a few guys who have tried em and got no gains either way power/economy. if you want to try it buy it somewhere that you can return it if you dont like it. the best things you can do you already covered in your first post in this thread. now tires, BFG'S...period. tires are another area that you get what you pay for. swampers are great but soft compound wont last you in the long run. i run BFG MT'S that are siped and probably near to being the best ice/snow/mud tire ever on a truck. the AT's are a good tire as well and you wont need to have them siped as they come with lots. i personally have no experience with pro comp so cant say but i have been 'jeepin' for many years and have never come across anyone who raves about them either way good/bad. good luck with which ever you do.

keep the rubber down.........

I have had Hercules tires on my Liberty,30x9.50x16" they suck in snow and dont last. I have replaced them with Procomp 265 70 16 allterains, these tires are way better all arond, the best tire i have had in snow . You get what you pay for.
